Anyone else think of Kuronuma Sawako from Kimi Ni Todoke when he started talking about the Badam Sadeko?
Great video as always! That chicken sekuwa looks heavenly.

The salad was nearly named Sadako, you know that, right? If it comes creeping out of my TV, I'll blame y'all for that! LOL Next time I go to Tokyo (which will happen, dammit), I must seek this place out, since I love Indian food and have not yet tried Nepalese food, and I'd totally be up for trying it.

I saw that tomato and picked onion. I tore out and bought a mason jar, vinegar and sugar to make pickled onion. Thanks for reminding me it exists. Forgot all about it.

That's incredible. He makes his curries from scratch and to order? That's something most Indian restaurants won't bother doing.

I really love that you’ve been going to this restaurant for 20 years. It must be so special to you. It’s also pretty cool that you got to witness his skills grow and his menu change over the years. I’ll definitely eat there when I go to Tokyo in the future 😊

How fortunate you are to have that wonderful place!
These are among your best videos, in my opinion. I love that you are talking to the owners about their background and their cooking, as well as showing how the restaurants are trying to keep people safe. Great job, guys.

looks amazing - I'm jealous. Indians/nepalese restaurants are famous for being "traditionalist" and doing things exactly 1 way....no fusion, no experimentation with local product/veg. This guy is doing a hybrid...he can obviously cook, and he is taking western and japanese ingredients and sticking them in dishes they would never go. like the "kari" dish with corn....that is unheard of. A regular Indian/Nepali would turn their nose up at this, but I think it looks brillieant and I'm so refreshed to see someone actually try something new. god bless! and most people eat kari with rice, not naan...but this guy is like "people love naan"...and he is right!!! woohoo!! also. I say "Kari" because "curry" is a western word (referring to the curry leaf used in south indian dishes). there is no "curry" in india/nepal (unless they are trying to sound western). BUT....there is something called "Kari" which is usually a saucey/soupy dish made with yogurt and chickpean/graham flour...Punjabi's are very famous for it but it is everywhere...and usually there aren't vegetables, there are pakora (fritters), but in the mountain regions they do add vegetables too. But there is only 1 specific dish called Kari, it does not refer to all the food. they all have specific names like Daal, Korma, etc.....the other "curry" you at was something called Sabzi (vegetable dishes generic term). The baked rice dish w/ cheese topping...mind blowing. I wonder if you could add mexican queso to this and blend in another culture to double-blow the minds.

Everything looked delicious! Thank you for supporting local artisans and for showcasing Chef Kaoru's restaurant. His passion for Nepalese cuisine has inspired me to learn more about it. Specifically, the ways in which it differs from Indian cuisine, which I cook all the time. I'm glad to see you enjoying dining out together again. Thank you, Shinichi and Satoshi, for always being informative, engaging, and uplifting. ❤️

Awe, this was very nice. It's nice to see when someone is passionate about something in a good way (in this case, the restaurant owner). Also, the food looks yummy! 😊

Nepali guy studying in the US here. I have been following your channel for more than two years now. Was wondering if you will ever try Nepali food. So happy to see that you always had Nepali food!! Love how the sekuwa looked!! By the way I want to request you to try the momo that they have there. And maybe compare the momo to Japanese gyoza/potsticker? I know the flavors are much different but would like to see what you guys think about it!!
